The World's Latest Fab Ranking! TSMC Only Ranks Second

Recently, Knometa Research released a data survey report on global wafer production. According to relevant reports, in 2021, the world will face a serious shortage of cores, but the top five wafer fabs have achieved positive growth in production. The average monthly output has increased by 10% compared with 2020, reaching 12.2 million wafers.

Global IC wafer capacity leaders

It can be seen from the ranking that Samsung ranks first with an average monthly output of 4.05 million wafers, occupying 19% of the global market. In addition to OEM chips for some chip manufacturers, Samsung also has many products that are closely related to wafers, which has boosted Samsung's market share growth.

However, TSMC's wafer production capacity ranks second, which is somewhat unexpected, after all, it has many customers such as Apple, Qualcomm, AMD and NVIDIA. TSMC's average monthly output in 2021 will reach 2.8 million pieces, accounting for 13% of the global market.

The third to fifth places are Micron, SK Hynix, and Kioxia/Western Digital. Among them, SK Hynix and Kioxia/Western Digital experienced a market decline.

According to previous reports, both NVIDIA and Intel are seeking in-depth cooperation with TSMC, and with the hot sales of Apple's new products, the demand for chips will increase, which is bound to bring more orders to TSMC. Round output is expected to catch up with Samsung.
